While the concept carries a playful sense of humor,
it was approached with genuine seriousness.
The inspiration may feel rooted in a Shōwa-era way of thinking,
but rather than resisting it,
the design embraces that spirit head-on,
with a stubborn, old-school craftsman’s mindset.
We invite you to enjoy this “seriously playful” hanging scroll—
a work that balances sincerity and lightheartedness
in a uniquely Japanese way.
