About the Hanging Scroll Design Concept
With the intention of extending the world of TAKAHASHI’s artwork into the hanging scroll itself,
the design deliberately mixes horizontal and vertical uses of the inner mounting fabric.
By doing so, the impression of the scroll changes
depending on the angle of light
and whether it is viewed from the front or from the side.

This unconventional use of fabric—
rare even in contemporary hanging scroll production techniques—
is one of the unique aspects to be enjoyed in this work.

Kensuke Takahashi is a mural artist and painter
born and based in Yokohama.
With strong drawing skills, meticulous technique,
and a free imagination that transcends reality,
he works without confining himself to a single visual style.

Focusing primarily on large-scale murals,
his practice spans a wide range of activities,
including interior murals for restaurants,
artwork commissions for companies and public institutions,
and live painting performances.

In recent years, his large-scale murals have been created at locations such as
Kawasaki City Hall (Main Building),
JR Yokohama Station (ecute),
and in Yokohama, Yokosuka, Machida, Hachioji,
Nagoya, Kobe, and Macau.
