What Makes KAKEJIKUYA Unique
KAKEJIKUYA is a hanging scroll brand dedicated to carrying the Japanese art of mounting into the future.
While preserving the traditional beauty of Japan and the mounting techniques passed down over generations, we offer kakejiku that blend naturally into contemporary lifestyles and interiors.
Trusted Craftsmanship Inherited from a Mounting Workshop Founded in 1937

KAKEJIKUYA carries on the history and craftsmanship of Kyokando, a mounting workshop founded in 1937 that specialized in hanging scrolls, folding screens, and fusuma sliding doors.
Although the nature of our business has evolved with the times, our desire to ensure that the culture of kakejiku does not disappear remains unchanged.
Drawing on the knowledge and techniques developed over many years, we carefully create each hanging scroll with attention not only to its inherent beauty, but also to its durability and ability to preserve the artwork for years to come.
Our goal is not simply to sell hanging scrolls. We aim to deliver pieces that can be enjoyed for many years and eventually passed down to future generations.
Designs That Complement Contemporary Interiors

While respecting the traditions of kakejiku, KAKEJIKUYA offers hanging scrolls designed for contemporary living, blending naturally not only into Western-style rooms and modern interiors in Japan, but also into a wide variety of homes around the world.
Many hanging scrolls currently sold in Japan are designed primarily for display in a traditional tokonoma alcove.
As a result, their length, width, colors, and mounting styles may not always suit contemporary living spaces.
Drawing on the techniques and knowledge developed through our history as a mounting workshop, KAKEJIKUYA designs and produces hanging scrolls that remain faithful to traditional forms and aesthetics while harmonizing with interiors both in Japan and overseas.
We create and select pieces that enhance everyday spaces, including hanging scrolls with subdued colors, simple designs that make effective use of negative space, and works that express the beauty of the seasons.
Rather than treating kakejiku as something reserved only for special places, we present them as interior art that can be enjoyed in everyday life, across different countries and styles of living.
Incorporating Feedback from Customers Around the World

KAKEJIKUYA has delivered hanging scrolls to customers in more than 30 countries, as well as throughout Japan.
Traditional hanging scrolls that express a distinctly Japanese aesthetic, including calligraphy, ink paintings, and ukiyo-e, are especially popular with customers overseas. However, each customer has a different idea of Japanese beauty, a different space in which to display a hanging scroll, and a different way of enjoying it in daily life.
Because a hanging scroll is something to be displayed and enjoyed for many years, we place great importance on feedback from the people who actually own and use our pieces.Comments and requests from customers overseas are reflected in our product development, curation, and proposals for new hanging scrolls.
Bringing the Japanese sense of beauty into homes around the world.
Across borders and cultures, KAKEJIKUYA will continue to deliver hanging scrolls that complement each person’s way of life and can be cherished for years to come.
Bringing Tradition Beautifully into Contemporary Spaces
KAKEJIKUYA hanging scrolls preserve the beauty of traditional Japanese mounting while offering a form of art that can be enjoyed in contemporary lifestyles and spaces.
Making kakejiku more accessible.
More freely enjoyed.
And beautifully integrated into contemporary spaces.
A single hanging scroll can bring serenity and elegance to a room, adding a little more richness to everyday life.
KAKEJIKUYA will continue to listen closely to each customer while preserving the beauty of tradition and sharing its appeal with the world.
