Repair Policy

We offer repair services for hanging scrolls (kakejiku) under specific conditions.
If you wish to request a repair, please review the following terms carefully before applying.

Availability of Repair Services

Repairs are available on a conditional basis.
Only hanging scrolls (kakejiku) are eligible for repair.

Scope of Repair Services

Repairs cannot be accepted for hanging scrolls that fall under any of the following categories:
  • Items that contain ivory
  • Items with severe deterioration or damage that are deemed unable to withstand shipping
Please note that even if a repair request is submitted, an item may be deemed non-repairable after physical inspection.

Repair Fees

  • All repairs are charged services.
  • Repair fees are provided on a pre-quotation basis.
  • An estimated cost will be presented in advance.
  • Submission of images clearly showing the condition of the hanging scroll is required for quotation purposes.

Shipping and Related Costs

All shipping and related expenses associated with repairs are the responsibility of the customer.
  • Return shipping from overseas to Japan: Customer’s responsibility
  • Shipping after repair completion: Customer’s responsibility
  • Customs duties, VAT, and any other fees incurred during customs clearance: Customer’s responsibility

Estimated Repair Time

The estimated repair period is approximately 2 to 3 months.
Please note that the actual duration may vary depending on the repair content and timing.

In Case Repair Is Deemed Not Possible

If, after physical inspection, the item is determined to be non-repairable, the hanging scroll will be returned to the customer.
In such cases, return shipping costs will be borne by the customer.

How to Apply for Repair

Customers wishing to request a repair must apply via the designated repair request form.
At the time of application, images clearly showing the condition of the hanging scroll must be submitted.

Important Notes

  • The appearance of the item after repair may vary due to the material and age of the hanging scroll, including changes in color or texture.
  • Repairs do not guarantee complete restoration to the original condition.
  • The final decision regarding repair eligibility and repair methods rests with our shop and our partner workshops.
